Serving youth and young adults ages 10-24 in Wyandotte County
Our mission for the KYTN Program is to support youth with disabilities in their journey to reach their fullest potential by providing the tools, training, guidance, and opportunities needed to thrive. We are dedicated to helping young people plan for their future, develop essential skills for meaningful employment or higher education, and build the confidence and self-advocacy to pursue their goals. Through individual, group and in-class supports, we work to break down systemic barriers and create pathways to independent living, ensuring every young person has the chance to lead a meaningful, self-determined life.

Note: The Kansas Youth Transition Network (KYTN) was established under a grant from the Kansas Department of Education, and is comprised of Youth Transition Councils and Community Groups working together to support youth with disabilities and their families and caretakers throughout Kansas, in their journey to post-high school independence, employment or higher education. Independence, Inc. is working under the KYTN grant to create innovate ways of working with youth ages 10 and up through extended Youth Transition Services within Wyandotte County, as we partner with other agencies and school districts to support the independent living and employment goals of youth with disabilities.
