Planned/Major Giving

We here at Independence, Inc., like other non-profits, rely heavily on charitable giving from individuals to maintain our quality programs and services year after year and to maximize impact and outcomes in the communities in which we serve.  While monthly and yearly contributions provide necessary assistance in our daily operations, forward and long-term thinking and development is necessary for future growth and expanding services. This requires partnership with forward-thinking philanthropic individuals and is where major gifts and planned giving can play a vital role.  This type of legacy giving can seem daunting and unfamiliar, but with resources and step-by-step help, it can be a wonderful way to support Independence, Inc, enabling donors to make larger gifts than they could make from ordinary income.

“Planned giving is the act of making a commitment to give a charitable organization a major gift, over time or at death, as part of the donor’s overall financial and estate planning. Planned gifts can range from the relatively simple bequest made in a will, to gifts like charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts that provide major gifts to a non-profit while at the same time returning income to the donor.” – The Fundraising Authority (thefundraisingauthority.com)
