Kansas Youth Transition Network (KYTN): We offer expanded Youth Transition Services under the Federal Department of Education Pathways to Partnership grant, in Wyandotte County. Visit our Kansas Youth Transition Network page by CLICKING HERE 

Through the KYTN Grant, Independence, Inc. is part of the Youth Transition Alliance of Wyandotte County, partnering with Kansas City area service providers, educators, advocates, youth with disabilities and their families to bring individualized resources, programs and services to youth and young adults in Wyandotte and Johnson counties.

We are offering enhanced Youth Transition Services under a federal grant, throughout Wyandotte County only. Under this grant, we are working with youth with disabilities from ages 10 and up to:

  • guide youth in identifying their interests, hobbies, talents and strengths
  • help youth integrate into their communities through activities, internships and volunteer work
  • assist youth in gaining self-advocacy and leadership skills
  • support parents and youth in IEP and 504 meetings
  • guide youth through transitioning from high school to employment, higher education or technical training
  • work with youth on building interview skills and how to fill out an application
