His performances, as well as his life, are a testament to the ongoing struggle of all Native Americans to bridge the gap between indigenous values and modern American society. By incorporating traditional music, instruments and dance with their modern counterparts, he paints a clear vision of his modern life as it pertains to his cultural values. A performer, songwriter, flutist, vocalist and drummer, Mirabal is a native of the Taos Pueblo in New Mexico.
