Assistive Technology 
for Kansans Project

for all Kansans with disabilities.

The Assistive Technology for Kansans Project provides information and referral, advocacy, acquisition and maintenance of devices, peer counseling, and public awareness services. These services are offered at five regional sites throughout Kansas. Northeast Kansas includes 13 counties in Northeast Kansas.

Northeast Kansas Access Site services include:

  • information on assistive technology devices using catalog resources as well as HYPER ABLEDATA, which lists over 19,000 devices and descriptions of each.
  • information on funding sources for assistive technology.
  • information on and access to local, regional, and statewide assistive technology loan banks.
  • reference library of vendors who supply assistive technology devices.
  • public awareness presentations for consumers, their families and representatives, public agencies and private entities that have direct contact with people with disabilities, policy makers, and business community members.

Equipment includes:

  • braille printer
  • text enlargement software
  • scanner
  • tracking balls
  • voice synthesis processing equipment
  • assistive keyboard software
  • assistive keyboards
Computer equipment is available for consumers to use at the Center in order to assess their own assistive technology needs.
