What You Can Do  About the SRS Budget Cuts

Are SRS budget cuts are adversely affecting you? -- Tell Your Story

The Statewide Independent Living Council of Kansas is collecting stories of how people with disabilities are being adversely affected by the recently enacted SRS budget cuts.

Please send stories, with a signed consent form (if from staff), and a picture if available, to SILCK board member:

Jason Gallagher
6504 W. 89th St. Apt. 91
Overland Park, KS  66212

Jason’s email: jason@ibelievedesign.com

The deadline for turning in this information is January 24, 2003.

Basic questions for gathering information about the impact of SRS cuts:

  • Name, address, city, county of the individual.

  • What specific SRS cut is affecting the individual?

  • How is the individual being affected by the change or loss of services?
How is their life, health, and independence being affected?

  • If a person is being cut because of their eligibility score for any SRS service, or is in danger of being cut due to their score, what is the score?

  • Include quotes from the person being affected by the SRS budget cuts.

  • Include pictures of the person, any size, electronic or regular photo.

  • List the person’s State Senator and Representative.  (Not essential but it would help.)

We are available to assist consumers with typing their story and sending it in to SILCK.  Just let us know!
