Senator Lott, families need the Family Opportunity Act, if you are saying
that you have not heard from families. We know this is BLATANTLY NOT TRUE.
We have called, E-mailed, faxed to you how much families need the Family
Opportunity Act. Pass it today and don't say you haven't heard from
families, because this is not true!

2. Call and Fax The White House

Jack Lew, Director of the Office of Management and Budget

Message to the White House

If you are hearing from Senator Trent Lott, the majority leader, that he has
not heard from families on the need for the Family Opportunity Act, this is
not the facts! Senator Lott has heard through calls, e-mails and faxes that
families need the Family Opportunity Act today -- that children with
disabilities need this bill passed! Their lives depend on it!

The Family Opportunity Act (FOA) S.2274 has a good chance on passing.

The recent stalls in the election process, and the hold up on the
appropriation process has worked in favor of children with disabilities.

The Family Opportunity Act allows children with disabilities to
receive the Medicaid Health Care that they so desperately need. If
you are a family earning a middle class income, then you know all too
well how difficult it is to take a job promotion, increase in pay, or
even qualify for Medicaid, because you make too much money.

The Family Opportunity Act will change this. Like TWWIIA, this bill would
allow
FAMILIES to buy-in to Medicaid, so children with disabilities will
finally get the health care that they need. The bill will also establish
Family to Family Health Centers (centers run by and for families). These
centers will use the expertise of "seasoned families" to help guide
newer families through the complex medical maze; the bill will also
establish demonstration projects that would allow the states to "try
out" the FOA in their state in the way that it would make sense.

Here is the news from Washington, DC. Senator Trent Lott has told
the White House that he has not heard from families, that he doesn't
want to pass bills for "rich families to create shelters." Folks I
don't know about you, but I know that my son was forced out of our home,
because there wasn't help for middle class families! We made just over
$300.00 over the allowed rate for Medicaid, and paid out $400.00 per
month just in medications alone! RICH!!!! I don't think so.

To All: If you do nothing else today and tomorrow, make these calls and
send these faxes. We need to make this happen, and need it now.
We have made our calls, sent faxes, now it is in everyone's hands. Please
send
this on and make a difference for our children and families with
disabilities.

Thank you.
