State Candidate Forum, Wed. October 16
The Statewide Independent Living Council of Kansas (SILCK) and the Kansas Association of Centers for Independent Living (KACIL) will be hosting a
Candidate Forum on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at the Topeka Capitol Plaza Hotel, 1717 SW Topeka BLVD. from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
Candidates for the following races will be attending and responding to questions related to the disability and aging community.
- Attorney General: Phil Kline & Chris Biggs
- Secretary of State: Ron Thornberg & David Haley
- Insurance Commissioner. Sandy Praeger & Jim Garner
- Gubenatorial candidates are responding to written questions. Copies of
their responses will also be available for attendees.
For people planning to stay in Topeka the evening
of Oct 16, the SILCK has reserved a block of sleeping rooms for a rate
of $68 at the Capitol Plaza. The block will be held until September 25th.
We want to capture all voter concerns related
to the disability and aging
communities. The SILCK has requested that we gather questions from people
with disabilities and other interested community members, to send back
to
the SILCK by Friday, September 27th. Please send your suggestions for
