The current two story building was constructed in 1998 to house the operations of Independence, Inc. All features of the building were designed to be fully accessible to meet the needs of both employees and consumers of agency services. Features include a fully accessible training kitchen and patio, ample accessible parking, elevator access, automatic door openers, large accessible restrooms, meeting space, and wiring for computer networking.
The building is located on the Lawrence "T" bus route and is close to many other established agencies/organizations such as SRS, Health Care Access, Pelathe Center, and Lawrence Housing Authority. It is easily accessed from downtown Lawrence, and from Kansas City via Highway 10.
A total of 1504 square feet on the second floor is currently available for rent. Cost is $2.00 - $2.50 per square foot depending on the total number of square feet rented and any additional existing agency services accessed. Price includes utilities and janitorial service.
